Overall satisfaction:
a guest from Spicewood, TX recommends this vacation rental
We loved the location and it was quite comfortable. However, it has some needs: many steps and no handrail to grip going down to entrance; step to lanai is same color as decking and an easy trip hazard; no instructions on how to operate TVs; many VRBO units have more kitchen/cooking supplies that this unit; lighting in closet was not working properlyl and most doors did not close well - e.g. it was difficult on the entry door to punch in the code correctly. While this unit has considerable general maintenance needs, it is still a good property for anyone who is comfortable with many steps - some not so obvious. Perhaps the upstairs unit is a better choice.

We were so delighted by our stay here. The location was excellent, we loved being able to walk to a great coffee shop and grocery store. I went on morning runs to the Makiki valley trails, it was beautiful. When we were driving up to the house, we were trying to capture a picture of the rainbow that was resting on top of Manoa Valley. We couldn't get an unobstructed pic, but were happy to have it welcoming us. When we arrived at the home and went out to the lanai, we could see the entirety of the rainbow spread out over the valley. The home was very clean and comfortable and we would absolutely stay here again.

The view was even better than I expected! Great convenient location in Manoa only 10-15 minutes from Waikiki and our family in Aina Haina. We really enjoyed the outside space and having laundry and a parking space were key! There were beach chairs, towels, and toys available for our use which was a nice touch. Our daughters (ages 13 and 11) loved the setup in the second bedroom with its secret door and curtains. It probably wouldn't work well for little kids or two couples though. Tall people will have to watch out for the low clearance in the master bedroom and closet. The property manager was very responsive to questions. Would definitely stay again!

The duplex was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Nicely decorated. The ceiling fans, windows, and door to the lanai kept the place cool. It was nice to be out of the noise and crowds of Waikiki. Parking is tight so a smaller car is best.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Honolulu downstairs unit for a week, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The location of this unit is absolutely perfect – it strikes that ideal balance between being close to nearby attractions and town amenities while still maintaining a peaceful atmosphere that doesn't feel like you're right in the midst of a bustling city. One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking view. Waking up to such an amazing vista each day was a treat for the senses. It's clear that this unit was thoughtfully designed to take full advantage of its surroundings. This marked my second time choosing this accommodation, and I can confidently say it won't be my last. The consistent quality and attention to detail make it a standout choice for future visits. I'm already eagerly anticipating my next opportunity to book and experience the magic of this place once again. In summary, my stay in the Honolulu downstairs unit was nothing short of excellent. From the convenient location to the stunning view and the promise of returning in the future, it's a five-star experience through and through.

The view was nice, the stairs were alittle steep; and the "night" lightning needs turn on faster and stay on longer.

We had an amazing time staying at this Manoa Valley rental! The location was perfect- close enough to Waikiki but quiet with a great view. We loved exploring the coffee shops and poke shop nearby. Was plenty of space for the 4 of us, and the outdoor space was incredible. Can’t wait to come back!

Great vacation stay in the beautiful quaint Manoa valley. Such a peaceful, safe, historical neighborhood. The place was very clean, homey, comfortable beds & fabulous porch with great views of Diamond Head & Honolulu city lights. Lots of beach supplies, games & outdoor shower. Steps are a little steep to go down to the door entry access. There are stairs inside the home & up to the bedroom & beds. So I would not recommend this place for someone who may have special mobility needs. Only downfall I had was steps & movement heard from people in the house above. The property manager addressed a concern & issue I had promptly with courtesy and great professionalism. She was very accommodating along with the cleaning service. I would definitely come back & stay at this place in the future.

Manoa is a great place to stay. I grew up on the islands but moved away after high school. It's very quiet and serene and the views from the patio are spectacular. Parking is premium so don't plan on additional cars except for one. The stairs to get to the front door are a little steep so be prepared. The motion light is a bit delayed so you need to make sure it comes on before you head down at night. Although the patio and living room are very comfortable and could seat 6 - 8 folks easily, not sure where they would park to visit. Rooms are comfortable and unique and suited the visit. Layout exactly as you see in the photos. The property was very clean and well maintained. We would certainly consider this again if we plan another trip there.

a guest from Makawao, HI recommends this vacation rental
In general we enjoyed the pleasant, cozy feeling of the unit and it's sense of seclusion. When we were disturbed by noise from the upstairs unit management was quick to respond and it stopped. There are safety issues with the unit that travelers need to be aware of, especially the outside stairs down to the unit that are steep and uneven and lack a proper handrail. Inside the unit there are three steep steps down from the bedroom to the bathroom and living area again with no handrail. We negotiated them by holding onto the door jambs and stepping down sideways. The second bedroom has a very steep and unsafe access to the bed and there is no safety edge or rail to prevent one from falling out of bed. There is a step down from the kitchen to the living area which seems ok, but the transition from the living area to the porch is dark and hard to see in dim light. A lighter color on the lower step would solve this. The views down the valley were buffered by the tops of nearby palm trees.
